News Reporter Vacancy - The Scottish Sun is recruiting a News Reporter to join our talented team.

Your team: The Scottish Sun is looking for a reporter to join our award-winning journalism team at Scotland’s top title at a time of exciting opportunities in our multi-platform and vibrant newsroom on a permanent basis.

Your role: The News Reporter will be responsible for developing and producing content across the whole of the Scottish Sun’s digital and print platform.

Day to day you will:

  • Produce first class news content every day across all of our platforms

  • Identify stories and subjects which will bolster newspaper content, drive online traffic and engage audiences

  • Develop and writes stories in a concise and entertaining way in line with Scottish Sun style

  • Work closely with editorial colleagues across an integrated newsroom for fresh lines, particularly on large breaking stories

  • Regularly contribute ideas to newsdesk

  • Ensure all content is legally sound and adheres to the Editors’ Code of Practice and IPSO standards

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Experience of being part of a fast-paced news operation

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to produce quick, accurate copy under pressure

  • Passion for all things current affairs, celebrity and lifestyle

  • A self-starter with an ability to generate ideas

  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment

  • An eye for a story and a passion for storytelling

  • A finger on the cultural pulse and knowledge of the latest digital platforms

  • Be flexible working across 7 days

  • A sense of humour and positive energy

  • Knowledge of IPSO regulations
